Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

1. Introduction

Langvora ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform, including how advertising works on ad-supported plans. By using Langvora, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in through a third-party provider (such as Microsoft), we receive your profile information from that provider.

Age

We ask for your date of birth or age when you register so that we can apply the protections required for younger users described in the "Children's Privacy" section below.

Study Data

We collect data about your learning activity, including flashcard reviews, exercise answers, study session durations, and progress metrics. This data is used to personalize your learning experience and schedule reviews.

Usage and Device Data

We automatically collect certain information when you access the platform, including your IP address, browser and device type, device identifiers, and pages visited. On ad-supported plans, our advertising partners may also receive some of this technical information through cookies and similar technologies, as described in the "Advertising and Cookies" section.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and personalize the learning experience
  • Schedule flashcard reviews using our adaptive algorithm
  • Generate progress reports and analytics
  • Display advertising to users on ad-supported plans
  • Communicate service updates and announcements
  • Improve the platform based on aggregated usage patterns
  • Ensure security, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract: to provide the service you sign up for
  • Consent: for personalized advertising and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time
  • Legitimate interests: for security, fraud prevention, and improving the platform
  • Legal obligation: where required by law, including child-protection rules

5. Advertising and Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. These are always required for the platform to function.

On ad-supported plans, we display advertising through Google AdSense (web) and Google AdMob (mobile applications). These services, and their partners, may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. Paid plans that include an ad-free experience do not display these ads.

Where required by law, we ask for your consent before any personalized advertising or non-essential cookies are used, through a certified Consent Management Platform. If you do not consent, you will only be shown non-personalized ads.

You can learn how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can manage ad personalization at myadcenter.google.com. policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, myadcenter.google.com.

6. Children's Privacy

We use the age information collected at registration to identify users who are below the applicable age of digital consent (for example, under 13 in the United States under COPPA, and between 13 and 16 in the European Economic Area depending on the country).

For users identified as children, we:

  • serve only non-personalized, child-directed ads, regardless of consent
  • disable ad-personalization data collection
  • limit processing to what is necessary to provide the service

We do not knowingly use children's data for behavioral advertising or sell it. A parent or guardian may review, request deletion of, or refuse further collection of their child's information by contacting us at contact@langvora.com.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

  • Advertising partners: on ad-supported plans, Google and its partners receive limited technical data to serve and measure ads, subject to your consent choices and the protections above
  • Service providers: third-party services that help us operate the platform (hosting, analytics, email delivery), bound by data processing agreements
  • Organization administrators: if you use Langvora through a school or organization, your administrator may have access to your progress data
  • Legal requirements: when required by law or to protect our rights and safety

8. International Data Transfers

We may process your data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, but we strive to protect your information.

10. Data Retention

We retain your account and study data for as long as your account is active, and only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for advertising or other processing
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@langvora.com. Users in the EEA or UK may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our platform and updating the "Last updated" date.
